Kenya Water for Health Organization (KWAHO) is a National Non-Governmental Organization founded in 1976 to implement Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion Programmes (WASH). KWAHO primarily targets marginalized unserved and underserved communities and schools drawn from rural, urban (informal settlements) and peri-urban areas. It is widely recognized as the first indigenous Kenyan NGO at the community level specifically dealing with water and sanitation.
Our goal is to improve the health of marginalized communities/groups and institutions through increased access to safe water, improved sanitation, hygiene promotion, and capacity building for sustainable WASH solutions. KWAHO also integrates the Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) in all its programs. We are headquartered in Nairobi with site offices in Kisumu, Kajiado, and Tana River Counties.
