This summer, experts warn, will be no different as a result of climate change \u2013 even after months-long lockdowns worldwide\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2020-05-covid-crisis-global-carbon-emissions.html\">cut carbon emissions<\/a>\u00a0by 17% compared to last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet it isn\u2019t just prolonged heatwaves that should worry us. So should depleted freshwater sources. Much of France, for instance, is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euractiv.com\/section\/energy-environment\/news\/more-than-half-of-france-at-risk-of-summer-drought\/\">expected<\/a>&nbsp;to suffer from prolonged droughts between now and September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Water shortages won\u2019t be limited to Europe, of course.
