Hunt stopped in Nigeria and raised concern about worsening poverty driven by climate change, and how this is becoming a significant contributor to instability in some countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is not the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbuhaug.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Buhaug_WIREsCC_2015.pdf\">first<\/a>&nbsp;to highlight how the climate crisis is affecting peacebuilding efforts and he won&#8217;t be the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/allafrica.com\/view\/group\/main\/main\/id\/00070599.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">last<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; in 2019&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.economist.com\/international\/2019\/05\/23\/how-climate-change-can-fuel-wars\"><em>The Economist published<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;a piece that said &#8220;as global average temperatures rise, dry regions will get drier and wet regions wetter, with more extremes and greater variability&#8221;.
