Socially sustainable communities strive to be equitable,\ndemocratic, diverse, and provide quality life and equal opportunities for\ngrowth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Social sustainability is one of the three main pillars,\nalongside economic and environmental pillars, of great companies. It is the\npeople-pillar in the People, Planet and Profit triple bottom-line narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the UN Global Compact, the social component\nof a business cannot be downplayed for it shapes the quality of relationships with\nstaff, customers and authorities.
