{"id":7353,"date":"2020-01-09T08:43:34","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T05:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=7353"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:30:47","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:30:47","slug":"new-steam-drilling-plant-in-nakuru-to-raise-clean-energy-stock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2020\/01\/09\/new-steam-drilling-plant-in-nakuru-to-raise-clean-energy-stock\/","title":{"rendered":"New Steam Drilling Plant In Nakuru To Raise Clean Energy Stock"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Business Daily<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Geothermal Development Company (GDC) has announced\nplans to set up a new steam drilling plant in Nakuru in efforts to increase the\ncountry\u2019s stock of renewable power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The State-owned power firm has applied for approval from\nthe National Environment Management Authority (Nema) for the green light to\nprospect for fresh wells in the vast Menengai Crater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GDC did not disclose the projected cost of the project \u2014\nMenengai West Geothermal Drilling Project \u2014 adding that the specific locations\nto be explored and depth of the wells will depend on the funds available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If approved, it will increase geothermal power to the national electricity grid that now stands at 3,341 gigawatt-hours besides an anticipated reduction in the cost of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGDC is proposing a geothermal exploration programme in\nNakuru County.
