because\nthey worry they will get bad news, struggle to get an appointment or don&#8217;t want\nto waste the doctor&#8217;s time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A poll of 2,000 adults found it takes nine days for someone\nto arrange a medical appointment about something that&#8217;s bothering them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around six in 10 are currently experiencing some kind of\nphysical discomfort including toothache, headaches or chest pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And almost one in five have bleeding or pain in their gums\nregularly yet haven&#8217;t done anything about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also emerged British adults have an average of two health\nissues that they are currently putting off getting checked out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adam Parker, from Oral-B which carried out the study, said:\n&#8220;Unfortunately, health problems, big and small, are an inevitable part of\nlife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;But, it&#8217;s common sense that pretending they aren&#8217;t\nhappening isn&#8217;t going to fix anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;There are plenty of reasons why we avoid dealing with\nour health problems, but looking after your health proactively can prevent\nissues arising in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Gum health is an important issue that can affect both\ndental and overall health and using the right toothpaste can really make a\ndifference.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study also found most leave it between two and six days\nbefore getting headaches, earaches and sickness looked at by a doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But one in 10 will wait up to a year before seeking medical\nattention for bleeding gums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of the 40 per cent who have suffered with bleeding and\npainful gums, four in 10 have never had the symptoms assessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One third admitted to avoiding the dentist over the last\nyear altogether because they don&#8217;t have the time, the money or have had a bad\nexperience in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.standardmedia.co.ke\/health\/article\/2001349657\/millions-are-avoiding-seeking-health-advice-for-fear-of-bad-news\">Read\nmore\u2026<\/a> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By The Mirror Millions avoid seeking help for a health issue &#8211;
