{"id":6302,"date":"2019-11-01T09:39:06","date_gmt":"2019-11-01T06:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=6302"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:30:39","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:30:39","slug":"nigerias-border-crisis-fueled-by-rice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2019\/11\/01\/nigerias-border-crisis-fueled-by-rice\/","title":{"rendered":"Nigeria&#8217;s Border Crisis Fueled By Rice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Nduka Orjinmo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Nigeria, one of Africa&#8217;s superpowers, closed all its land\nborders two months ago to tackle smuggling &#8211; but the unprecedented move is\naffecting trade across the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bustling borders have come to a standstill, with goods rotting\nand queues of lorries waiting at checkpoints in the hope the crossings will\nreopen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The closures were imposed without warning on 21 August &#8211; and\nNigeria&#8217;s neighbours are angry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What prompted the move?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mainly rice.
