It\u2019s been nearly 15 years\nsince this resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The world has certainly seen economic progress but\nit is not even. And countries in Africa lag behind the global average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.credit-suisse.com\/corporate\/en\/research\/research-institute\/global-wealth-report.html\">Global\nwealth<\/a>&nbsp;has more than doubled from US$170 trillion in 2000 to $360\ntrillion in 2019. Global wealth per adult is at a record high of $70,850.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mean wealth per adult in Africa is $6,488. In Mozambique, it is as low as $352.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proportion of the world\u2019s people living on less\nthan two dollars a day (an updated measure of extreme poverty) has more\nthan&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ourworldindata.org\/grapher\/poverty-decline-without-china?time=1981..2015\">halved<\/a>&nbsp;from\n35.9% in 1990 to 10% in 2015. But in sub-Saharan Africa the figure still stands\nat 41%, according to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldbank.org\/en\/news\/press-release\/2018\/09\/19\/decline-of-global-extreme-poverty-continues-but-has-slowed-world-bank\">World\nBank<\/a>. The bank&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldbank.org\/en\/publication\/poverty-and-shared-prosperity\">estimates<\/a>&nbsp;that\n87% of the world\u2019s poorest people will live in the region by 2030 if the trends\ncontinue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life expectancy has been&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/data.worldbank.org\/indicator\/SP.DYN.LE00.IN\">growing<\/a>&nbsp;by 16\nweeks a year so that those born today are likely to live 20 years longer than a\nchild born in 1960.
