{"id":6181,"date":"2019-10-28T15:08:13","date_gmt":"2019-10-28T12:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=6181"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:30:38","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:30:38","slug":"plans-to-turn-dandora-dumpsite-into-recreational-park-well-on-course","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2019\/10\/28\/plans-to-turn-dandora-dumpsite-into-recreational-park-well-on-course\/","title":{"rendered":"Plans To Turn Dandora Dumpsite Into Recreational Park Well On Course"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>By Nairobi News<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nairobi County\u2019s largest dumpsite, Dandora dumpsite, may\nsoon cease to exist as City Hall plans to turn it into a recreational park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This comes after the county government said that plans\nare underway to eventually decommission the dumpsite as a way of achieving\nsustainable waste management in the capital city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>METHANE\nGAS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nairobi County Environment Executive Veska Kangogo said\nDandora dumpsite will in the meantime continue receiving residual waste but\nwill be turned into a park once all the methane gas emanating from the\ndecomposing waste at the site is done with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Kangogo said the plan is part of the county\u2019s wider\nplans to re-engineer dumpsites in the county aimed at methane gas collection\nintended for electricity generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is in line with the county government\u2019s plan to set\nup methane gas generation plant at the dumpsite to turn most of the residual\nwastes at the dumpsite into the gas that will be used to power electricity\ngenerating plants. <a href=\"https:\/\/nairobinews.nation.co.ke\/editors-picks\/plans-to-turn-dandora-dumpsite-into-recreational-park-well-on-course\">Read\nmore&gt;&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Nairobi News Nairobi County\u2019s largest dumpsite, Dandora dumpsite, may soon cease to exist as City Hall plans to turn it into a recreational park.
