{"id":6153,"date":"2019-10-25T09:59:06","date_gmt":"2019-10-25T06:59:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=6153"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:30:38","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:30:38","slug":"unlock-africas-public-finance-potential","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2019\/10\/25\/unlock-africas-public-finance-potential\/","title":{"rendered":"Unlock Africa\u2019s Public Finance Potential"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Bitange\nNdemo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unknown to the conference participants was the fact that McKinsey in its recent study, Unlocking Africa\u2019s $100 billion public-finance opportunities, argue that although \u201cAfrican governments\u2019 combined budget deficits exceeded $100 billion in 2018,\u2026with public-finance reforms, if scaled up across the continent, could close the entire fiscal deficit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\nspite of Africa being the poorest continent, the report argues, it is making\nprogress in key areas that would boost economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nstudy highlights some of the reforms that have a significant impact.
