It is no easy place for people and cattle\nto survive or make a living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One\nday, an American businessman who came to do a safari in Kenya fell in love with\nits wildlife but noticed the difficulties the communities around the wildlife\nsanctuaries faced. He set up Wildlife Works and in 2011 their Kasigau Corridor\nProject became the first Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest\nDegradation (REDD+) project in the world to be validated and verified by two\nstandardizing bodies\u2014the Verified Carbon Standard and the Climate Community and\nBiodiversity Alliance. Together, the two standards evaluate every aspect of the\nproject, including how you calculate your carbon emission reductions, as well\nas whether the benefit-sharing to communities is fair and equitable.
