The school is not a traditional business school, but one that focuses on the internet economy saidZeng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cForeign students can take\ncourses related to the internet, global trade and cross-border e-commerce and\nalso gain firsthand experience of the development of China\u2019s digital economy,\u201d\nhe said. \u201cThis opportunity will change our lives,\u201d said 18-year-old Mike Manzi.\nHe said that after graduation, he hopes to set up an e-commerce platform back\nin his country that helps simplify tax declarations and customs clearance for\ncross-border trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program is part of a\ncooperation agreement between the Rwandan government and Alibaba under the\nlatter\u2019s Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP) initiative. Rwanda and Alibaba\nlaunched the eWTP in October 2018, making Rwanda the first African country to\nlaunch the platform. Since the launch of the eWTP, Rwanda\u2019s coffee and tourism\nproducts have been sold on Alibaba\u2019s e-commerce platforms, including coffee\nfrom the Rwandan company \u201cLand of a Thousand Hills.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The eWTP demonstrates the\nfriendly development concept of China\u2019s Belt and Road Initiative and help\nconnect the world through the internet, said Virgile Rwanyagatare, the Charge\nd\u2019Affaires at the Rwandan Embassy in China, at the ceremony. China sells goods\nto the world through e-commerce, and African countries will soon be able to\nconnect to these online platforms, said Rwanyagatare. \u201cThe eWTP is an\nopportunity for Rwandans, and I believe it will help Rwanda\u2019s development in\nterms of economy and e-commerce,\u201d said Manzi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda wants to become a\nmiddle-income nation by embracing digitalization and smart business\ntransactions through the eWTP, said Sunny Ntayombya, head of communications and\nmarketing at Rwanda Development Board, in a written interview with Xinhua. The\nprospects of the eWTP are high in Rwanda, said Ntayombya, and the country hopes\nthe partnership results in more trade with China and the world. \u201cWith four-year\nsystematic learning, we hope Rwandan students can integrate into China\u2019s\ndigital economy and become a backbone for Rwanda after graduation,\u201d said Huang\nMingwei, vice president of Alibaba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the past year, Alibaba has provided e-commerce training programs for officials, business owners, entrepreneurs, and college teachers from Rwanda. The company has jointly developed e-commerce courses with Rwanda\u2019s African Leadership University.
