During the two-day regional bamboo policy\nand strategy workshop, which opened on Tuesday, national policy makers,\ngovernment officials, experts and entrepreneurs on bamboo development discussed\non the cooperation and utilization of untapped bamboo resources. Furthermore,\nthey presented policies, strategies and best practices that are currently in\nplace in the three countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durai Jayaraman, South-South Knowledge Transfer Strategies\nProject Manager at International Bamboo and Rattan Organization, said that\npromoting mutual understanding and enhancing cooperation between the Eastern\nAfrican countries, and addressing the challenges and barriers for the\ndevelopment of this sector are expected outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ethiopia has the largest bamboo resource of the three\ncountries, accounting for 88 percent, followed by Kenya with eight percent and\nUganda registering four percent of the resource, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/allafrica.com\/stories\/201909070015.html\">Continue\nreading\u2026<\/a> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yonas Abiye Ethiopia has forged a partnership with Kenya and Uganda to develop the bamboo sector in what is called Triangular Bamboo Development.
