Its\nhilly terrain and many unplanned neighborhoods also make it a challenge to\nmanage waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every building is expected to\nhave septic tank and many commercial buildings tend to empty them frequently.\nSo does it ever occur to anyone where the solid waste ends up? Just in the\noutskirts of Kigali is Nduba dumpsite that handles both solid and liquid waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem is that the\ndumpsite is it has human settlements as neighbours and they are not very\namused;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newtimes.co.rw\/news\/nduba-dumpsite-threat-finally-going-be-addressed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the smell and diseases<\/a>&nbsp;brought about by flies\nand other scavengers has made many relocate without even waiting for\ncompensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The city has scored highly on\nmany fronts but one area that continues to blot it near-perfect record has been\nwaste management and treatment. Successive city administrations have been\ntalking about building an incinerator for years but nothing has come out of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same goes for a waste\nwater treatment and recycling plant.
