{"id":4705,"date":"2019-08-19T09:47:04","date_gmt":"2019-08-19T06:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=4705"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:30:28","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:30:28","slug":"american-tourists-to-rwanda-grow-by-114-travel-agencies-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2019\/08\/19\/american-tourists-to-rwanda-grow-by-114-travel-agencies-say\/","title":{"rendered":"American Tourists To Rwanda Grow By 114%, Travel Agencies Say"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>By <\/em><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newtimes.co.rw\/profile\/collins-mwai\"><strong><em>Collins Mwai<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Numbers of American tourists\nto Rwanda have grown by 114 per cent year on year, according to data from an\ninternational travel agency network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agency network, Virtuoso\nin their latest data release noted that Rwanda was among the top 10 countries\nthat have experienced significant increases by percentage in year-over-year\nbookings among American travellers at 114 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other countries that had seen\nsignificant growth of American travellers were Uruguay, Malta, Romania, Puerto\nRico, Egypt and The Maldives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agency network findings\nare from an analysis of data from over 1,000 travel agency partners and 20,000\nelite travel advisors across North America, Latin America, the Caribbean,\nEurope, Asia-Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their analysis, they noted\nthat American tourists are increasingly characterized by aspects such as\ninterest in exploring new destinations, seeking fresh adventures, pleasant\nclimate, less-explored cuisines and retreats for relaxation-focused travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development comes at a\ntime when Rwanda has been rolling out multiple efforts to grow tourism\nreceipts. Among the avenues has been creating a diversity of wildlife in local\nparks with the addition of rhinos and lions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tourism sector is also\nworking edge towards the low density, high-value kind of tourism due to the\nreturns it promises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among facilities, the\nfacilities that are well placed for the model include Bisate Lodge, Amakoro\nSonga lodge, One and Only Nyungwe and the newly opened Singita.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda Development Board\n(RDB) has also previously said that they are working on devising ways to\ndiversify the country\u2019s tourism, to make the most of cultural, religious and\nother attractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rwanda is also keen on\ngrowing tourism receipts through the conference tourism sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kigali is currently ranked\nthe second most popular destination in Africa for international meetings and\nevents by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
