{"id":4498,"date":"2019-08-13T09:58:06","date_gmt":"2019-08-13T06:58:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=4498"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:30:28","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:30:28","slug":"kenya-forest-service-earns-sh2-7bn-from-plantations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2019\/08\/13\/kenya-forest-service-earns-sh2-7bn-from-plantations\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya Forest Service Earns Sh2.7bn From Plantations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>By Business Daily<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) raked in Sh2.7 billion\nfrom its tree plantations in the year that the government imposed a total ban\non logging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A report of the Auditor-General Edward Ouko shows that KFS earned Sh2,702,904,804 as appropriations-in-aid (AIA) from the forest and related forest products in the year to June 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the same period, the report shows that KFS spent a\npaltry Sh124.3 million out of which Sh67.7 million for seeds and seedlings and\nSh56.6 million for tree planting activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis translates to five per cent of revenue earned from\nsale of trees and tree-related products,\u201d Mr Ouko said in a qualified opinion\nof KFS&#8217;s books of accounts for the year to June 2018.
