In 2017, the island joined the likes\nof Rwanda and Madagascar when the Ministry of Environment banned the use,\nmanufacture and sale of plastic and Styrofoam boxes. Most recently, the Indian\nOcean Island banned the use of single-use plastic straws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A provisional study conducted in 2016 found that plastic makes\nup nearly 30% of all waste of Seychelles\u2019 landfills. Additionally, the\nSeychelles government reports it is spending hundreds of millions of rupees on\nsolid waste management for de-littering rivers and marshes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most remote corners of the ocean are suffering from the\nhorrors of plastic waste.
