Alteration of forests\nto other land uses eliminates income from wild products such as honey,\nmushrooms, and leaves landscapes less resilient to landslides, floods and other\nnatural disasters that can damage infrastructure (SDG 11) and set back income\ngrowth for years (SDG 1).\n\nDeforestation\nhas negative impacts on agricultural productivity which is a key weapon in the\nfight to end hunger (SDG 2). Forest-based birds and bees provide essential\npollination and pest control within the eco-system. Forested watersheds provide\nwater for irrigation, and help maintain the water habitat for the inland\nfisheries that is a source of food supply for millions.
