Wasting food has\ncarbon impacts from the disposal as well as from the growing, processing and\ndistribution perspective. Raising awareness and showing that change is possible\nit a critical first step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn addition to buying what\u2019s\nneeded locally, buy sustainably produced food, learn about practices and\nlabels, talk about healthy and sustainable food with vendors and producers.\nStart an urban garden, school garden or kitchen garden. It is critical to\nsupport organizations, policies, programmes and people that promote more\nsustainable food systems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unsatisfied with the status quo,\nBillon decided to start tackling food waste herself.
