{"id":3451,"date":"2019-06-28T09:59:53","date_gmt":"2019-06-28T09:59:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=3451"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:30:22","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:30:22","slug":"new-comesa-project-on-food-health-standards-to-enhance-market-access","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2019\/06\/28\/new-comesa-project-on-food-health-standards-to-enhance-market-access\/","title":{"rendered":"New COMESA project on food health standards to enhance market access"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Capital FM correspondent <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regional countries are set to increase market access for their agricultural products following the commencement of a new capacity building project to mainstream sanitary and phyto-sanitary standards (SPS) priorities into national policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project is titled: \u2018Mainstreaming SPS capacity building into the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) and other National Policy Frameworks to Enhance Market Access\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project has a budget of US$464 out of which US$390 is\nprovided by the Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) a World Trade\nOrganization (WTO) agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project covers five countries that are members of the Common Market\nfor Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA); Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia and\nMalawi.
