The digital age continues to transform\nthe way we live, shop and pay \u2013 including how and where brands show up. By\nredefining the way they engage with consumers, brands can establish more\nmeaningful relationships with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The evolution of communication<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take the example of MasterCard\u2019s\nPriceless\u2019 platform \u2013 it is a single word that is embedded within the DNA of\nour brand and drives differentiation. While it has been a constant, critical\nelement for more than 20 years, what it stands for has evolved tremendously\nover the years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What started out as a\nstorytelling tool is now something that engages our consumers in new and\ninnovative ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corporations today should\nencourage and inspire consumers to create their own stories, their own\nmemories; this ensures that the brand resonates with them on a more personal\nlevel. As part of this approach, paying greater attention to how you engage\nwith your consumers and enabling them to make their own memorable moments is\nparamount. This is more pertinent than ever before given that today, people\nexpect action, not advertisements, from brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The power of brand identity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research shows that today, 84\npercent of people say that brands have a strong identity and a clear role in\nthe world, while 87 percent say that brands must stand up for what they\nbelieve. This is a clear indication that there is a necessity for brands to\nevolve and touch the lives of their consumers\u2014 passive brand identities will\nnot remain relevant for long. A brand needs to connect to people on several levels\nand be able to appeal to their various senses, therefore the need for continued\ntransformation and innovation cannot be overstated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the digital age is\ncreating completely new definitions of consumer needs and experiences. As the\nlines between digital and physical blur and the number of consumer touch points\ncontinues to increase, consumer\u2019s brand expectations evolve in keeping with the\nrise of new technologies \u2014 some, like ad blockers, increasing challenges, and\nothers, like voice technologies, opening up new possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s with this in mind that we\nrecently launched our sonic logo, which comes on the heels of our recent\ntransition to a symbol brand. Our interlocking circles are a powerful visual\ncue and encapsulate the brand better than any word could.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speak to your consumers as you\nwould to a real human being who might be standing right in front of you.
