{"id":3273,"date":"2019-06-24T07:13:24","date_gmt":"2019-06-24T07:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=3273"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:30:22","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:30:22","slug":"kenya-outpaces-africa-and-world-in-swift-transactions-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2019\/06\/24\/kenya-outpaces-africa-and-world-in-swift-transactions-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya Outpaces Africa and World In SWIFT Transactions Growth"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>By GEOFFREY IRUNGU<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kenyan financial\ntransaction messages through the global SWIFT network rose 9.4 per cent\nyear-to-date compared to the same period last year, newly released data shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was above the\nglobal and Africa average growth of 6.7 and 4.4 per cent respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The increase in the\nmessages in Rwanda was, however, higher at 37.1 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The organization, which\nenables the global community of users to communicate securely by exchanging\nstandardized financial messages in a reliable way, said for Africa there was a\ndeceleration in the growth due to slower economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSeveral markets in\nEast Africa also experienced strong traffic growth. Kenya and Rwanda saw an\nincrease of 9.4 per cent and 37.1 per cent respectively, versus the same period\nin 2018,\u201d said the firm in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ghana\nand Nigeria saw growth of 32.1 per cent and 24.5 per cent, respectively.
