{"id":2913,"date":"2019-06-04T09:50:48","date_gmt":"2019-06-04T09:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=2913"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:30:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:30:19","slug":"more-people-have-access-to-electricity-than-ever-before","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2019\/06\/04\/more-people-have-access-to-electricity-than-ever-before\/","title":{"rendered":"More People Have Access To Electricity Than Ever Before&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>By WHO<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite significant progress in\nrecent years, the world is falling short of meeting the global energy targets\nset in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for 2030.\nEnsuring affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030\nremains possible but will require more sustained efforts, particularly to reach\nsome of the world\u2019s poorest populations and to improve energy sustainability,\naccording to a new report produced by the International Energy Agency (IEA) the\nInternational Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the United Nations Statistics\nDivision (UNSD), the World Bank and the World Health Organization (WHO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Notable progress has been made\non energy access in recent years, with the number of people living without\nelectricity dropping to roughly 840 million from 1 billion in 2016 and 1.2\nbillion in 2010. India, Bangladesh, Kenya and Myanmar are among countries that\nmade the most progress since 2010. However, without more sustained and\nstepped-up actions, 650 million people will still be left without access to\nelectricity in 2030.
