Over the last decade, thermometers fixed at the Atlantic Ocean\u2019s seafloor recorded an average temperature rise of around 32\u00b0F (0.02\u00b0C.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That warming may be caused by human-driven climate change, which has increased the world\u2019s ocean temperatures near the surface by about 1-degree Fahrenheit. That number may sound insignificant, but since the ocean is so large, researchers say it\u2019s equivalent to every second&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.intelligentliving.co\/oceans-absorbing-heat-5-atom-bombs-per-second\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">four Hiroshima bombs\u2019 worth of energy entered the seas<\/a>&nbsp;for the past 25 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, it\u2019s unclear whether the deep sea is getting warmer from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.intelligentliving.co\/tag\/climate-change\/\">climate change<\/a>, as very little is known about the ocean\u2019s deepest parts. \u201cThe deep ocean, below about 2,000 meters, is not very well observed,\u201d said oceanographer Christopher Meinen, of the U.S. National Oceanic &amp; Atmospheric Administration in Miami. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intelligentliving.co\/deepest-ocean-getting-warmer\/\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A team of oceanographers has&nbsp;discovered&nbsp;that the deep sea is heating up.
