{"id":10502,"date":"2020-07-30T08:47:33","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T05:47:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africasustainabilitymatters.com\/?p=10502"},"modified":"2026-01-11T05:31:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T05:31:11","slug":"fmo-backs-eco-business-ii-sub-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rayscohosting.best\/ASM\/2020\/07\/30\/fmo-backs-eco-business-ii-sub-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"FMO Backs Eco.Business II Sub-Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>FMO has approved the commitment of $10m in senior shares of Eco.business II Sub-Fund (EBF II), an open ended debt fund managed by Finance-In-Motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EBF II aims to promote ecologically sustainable businesses, with a special focus on fighting deforestation in Sub-Saharan Africa, through the provision of dedicated financing and technical assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eco.business II Sub-Fund was initiated by Germany\u2019s KfW Development Bank with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investment&nbsp;by FMO will be used on-lent to local financial institutions that target sustainable businesses\/projects (i.e. certified or identified as green).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the Fund looks to set up strategic partnerships with commodity buyers to finance smallholders and also to finance high impact projects directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Priority sectors will be sustainable agriculture, fishery, forestry and tourism. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africaglobalfunds.com\/news\/investors\/fmo-backs-ecobusiness-ii-sub-fund\/\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FMO has approved the commitment of $10m in senior shares of Eco.business II Sub-Fund (EBF II), an open ended debt fund managed by Finance-In-Motion.
