Greta has recently been&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2020\/jul\/21\/greta-thunberg-gives-1m-award-money-to-climate-groups\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">awarded<\/a>&nbsp;the Portuguese Gulbenkian rights award for her efforts, which she says is \u2018more money than I can begin to imagine.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Jul 20,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GretaThunberg\/status\/1285160824282263557\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Greta announced<\/a>&nbsp;that she would give the entire \u20ac1m ($1.15m) prize money to groups working on the frontlines to protect the environment and curb climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Swedish teenager said, &#8220;that is more money than I can begin to imagine, but all the prize money will be donated, through my foundation, to different organizations and projects which are working to help people on the front line, affected by the climate crisis and ecological crisis.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Jorge Sampaio, chair of the prize jury, Greta was awarded the Gulbenkian prize for \u2018humanity,\u2019 precisely for how she \u201chas been able to mobilize younger generations for the cause of climate change and her tenacious struggle to alter a status quo that persists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cSOS Amazonia\u201d campaign organized by Fridays For Future Brazil, will receive the first \u20ac100,000 of the prize money, to help fight the COVID-19 outbreak in the Amazon.
